Janet Landey, CSEP
Janet Landey CSEP is President of IFEA Africa – International Festivals and Events Association Africa. Her latest project is the 67 Minutes Event -asking volunteers to donate 67 minutes of their time and skills to honour the 67 years that Nelson Mandela gave of his life in the struggle for justice. Janet is championing a co-operative initiative with Skills Village 2030 to develop the Event Value Chain between the first and emerging market using events and skills as a catalyst for action. Their purpose as IFEA Africa is to inspire individuals to identify commodities, goods, services and experiences in their local community, and bring them to market by planning and producing a simple Community Market Day.
Janet’s past experience has included Event Architect and the Chief Experience Officer (CXO) of the Partydesign Group, focused on growing the economic benefit of the event and extended industries exponentially through unique Enterprise Development and Socio-Economic Development impact, and effective event spend through successful events that create livelihoods at the same time.
As a key driver of industry development and growth through knowledge consolidation, training, policy intervention and redefinition of industry best practice, Janet collaborates and consults on the design of innovative, responsible, social, economic and environmental event experiences.
Her contribution towards standards in event management and the supporting disciplines in South Africa, her quest for global standards as a Charter Executive of Event Management Body of Knowledge (EMBOK), and her unrelenting passion for community development and belief in events as a change catalyst for poverty alleviation and peace, makes her an entertaining and inspirational speaker.
Janet is the founding President of ISES (the International Special Events Society) in South Africa and she serves on the Services SETA (Sector Education Training Authority) Council as Chair of the Small, Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) and on the working groups for Events for THETA (The Tourism, Hospitality and Sports Education and Training Authority).
